Columns in architecture represent the cornerstones of a building, thus symbolizing stability, balance and solidity.

Like many vertical elements, they symbolically connect Earth and Sky, becoming an expression of men’s gratitude towards the gods, as well as stability, strength and perfect balance.

Imposing and elegant, marble columns are a highly effective decorative solution, suitable for any style, from classic to modern. They will easily match important antiques as well as the more modern Art Nouveau and Rococo-inspired styles. In contrast with the clean lines of modern and design settings, they will instead be able to give a touch of timeless elegance.

THE MATERIAL.

Marble, beloved by the most celebrated sculptors and architects around the world and throughout the ages, is also asserting its artistic power in the modern conception of architecture and interior design. The classic and timeless taste of Michelangelo’s favorite material adapts to the most varied contexts, from the new liberty and Baroque style, to clean and essential lines, up to industrial-inspired settings.

Travertine is a porous limestone rock with a stratified structure, typical of central Italy, which is formed by precipitation from calcium carbonate waters near springs and waterfalls. Particular are the typical parallel bands and even very marked zonings, marked by variations in color and porosity, which give a natural yet refined look to this beautiful material. It is easily workable and is in fact used both indoors and outdoors. It is also used to great effect for sculpture and for architectural and design elements of great elegance

Travertine is recently finding favor with modern architects and interior design. Its natural appearance fits perfectly with the new lifestyle trends, increasingly oriented towards the use and enhancement of natural materials.
